Water Conservation
Water is a precious resource in Colorado. All homes built today are equipped with toilets that use 1.6 gallons of water per flush. Older homes, with the original fixtures, may be using 3-5 gallons per flush. Braconier Plumbing, Heating and Cooling can install a dual flush toilet in your home or business with water savings of approximately 40% compared to the standard 1.6 gallon toilet.
Pressure balancing showerheads can maintain water pressure while requiring less flow. Braconier Plumbing, Heating and Cooling can install these heads in your home resulting in conserving an average of 8,000-10,000 gallons of water per year depending on the GPM (gallons per minute) of your current showerhead.
Braconier Plumbing, Heating and Cooling can also install an on-demand pump which prevents water from being poured down the drain while you are waiting for hot water. This will pump the water back into your cold water line until the water reaches the desired temperature. The pump will then shut off, giving hot water at the faucet or shower, saving you an average of 15,000-20,000 gallons of water per year.
Energy Conservation
Upgrading your old heating and cooling equipment with newer more efficient models will result in a significant energy savings while making your home or business more comfortable. Variable speed and modulating furnaces are examples of how changing your heating system can improve your comfort level while reducing your energy bills.
Tankless water heaters save money by eliminating the need to heat 40-50 gallons of water 24 hours a day. By having Braconier Plumbing, Heating and Cooling, install a tankless water heater, you only pay to heat the water when you are using it.
High efficiency boilers are 99% efficient when combined with a water maker system for domestic hot water. Braconier Plumbing, Heating and Cooling can install one for your home or business and reduce your current energy usage.

Tips For Going Green
Anytime your furnace, air conditioner or water heater is running, it’s using energy and costing you money. These units can be made more efficient as follows:
- Installation of a programmable thermostat. This will let you set temperatures for different times of the day so you are only heating and cooling when needed. Keep it turned down when you are away and at night while sleeping.
- Change your filters. Replacing them every 3 months will keep your furnace and air conditioner running efficiently and effectively.
- Install a high efficiency furnace. New furnaces are 90% more efficient. Having a new unit installed will pay for itself in reduced energy bills over time – with the current soaring energy costs this pay-back period is becoming shorter and shorter and fast becoming a smarter and smarter investment.
- Shade your air conditioner compressor. It will stay cooler and not have to work as hard resulting in more efficiency.
- Set your water heater to 110 degrees to save energy and to extend the life of your water heater.
